When you cover a properly manufactured gazebo frame with the correct pitch with our Cape reed tiles, the result is a long lasting, durable gazebo that will require very little maintenance and repairs.

  • The secret of our Cape reed thatch gazebos is in the raw materials we use:

    • Our timber gazebo frames are guaranteed against rot and termite damage for over 20 years. The frames are available in DIY kits with full instruction manuals. The frames consist out of pre-cut rafters, wall plates, etc. and only screw together. There is no gazebo frames available on the market of which so many of a size can fit into a container.
    • Our steel gazebo frames, are either galvanized or powder coated. The galvanized frames can withstand any hazardous coastal weather conditions. The steel segments have been designed to optimize container space.
    • We use Cape reed to manufacture our tiles with for the following reasons: Cape reed is the most expensive natural thatch material available on the market, but by far the best. Compared to other materials Cape reed has a solid core. The material cannot be squashed like the thatch grasses and European thatch. This feature makes it highly resistant to wind, rain and sun damage. A strong, solid core keeps the Cape reeds highly functional and aesthetically pleasing, even when the outer layers begin to wear away. Cheap thatch, on the other hand, is often hollow and the roof begins to fall apart as soon as the outer shell disintegrates.
    • Cape reed thatch is made from mature plants. Many cheap thatch alternatives use young plants of only 12-18 months which have not had time to fully mature and develop extensive fibre structures that are necessary for durability. Our Cape reed thatch tiles are made with plants that are 5-7 years old and have fully developed the fibre core to a maximum strength.

We don’t just find the best raw materials to make our gazebos but have spent the last four decades testing countless manufacturing methods, reed treatment chemicals, wood sealants and installation methods.

Some of our engineers and researchers have been with us since the first year of operations and have focused exclusively on extending the life of our structures and thatched roofs! No other company in the world has our level of experience or focus on thatch roofing and gazebo structures.

Here’s something to think about:

Our timber gazebo frames are guaranteed against rot and termite damage for over 20 years. We galvanize or powder coat the steel frames to withstand harsh coastal weather conditions

Our Cape reed thatch roofs will last anywhere between 5-7 years, depending on the local climate. Compare that to cheap thatched gazebo roofs offered by other manufacturers which will remain structurally sound for only 18-36 months, or even less if they are installed in a harsh climate!

Our synthetic Cape reed thatch gazebo tiles literally last for ever. We offer a 20 year limited warranty on our synthetic tiles, but they can last up to 50 years! In fact, some of the synthetic tiles we installed more than 15 years ago still look as if the project were completed this year. The synthetic tiles we make are virtually impossible to distinguish from the real thing.

Our structures tend to provide shades up to 10 degrees cooler and we guarantee a 98% water proof roof. The reason is that we use a steeper roof pitch that facilitates rain water running of faster. Our Cape reed tiles are also packed more densely leaving no cracks or spaces in-between. Your hotel or resort guests will truly appreciate this feature which will increase their overall enjoyment at your venue and will leave them with more positive memories of their vacation.

High end resorts like Fregate Island Private, La Digue Island Lodge, Le Domaine de L’Orangeraie, Crown Beach Resort, Le Meridien Fisherman’s Cove, Sunset Beach Hotel and the Le Relax Hotels have all opted for our products simply because the quality and durability of our materials is simply unparalleled.
